Launching a new website and being listed well on Google is a challenge, not a question. Search engine optimization takes a lot of effort and time (or money if you hire someone to do it), but remember the other way around: not being listed would not be found – no clicks, no visitors, no sales.

What are search engines looking for?
Search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing want to direct users to websites that offer exactly what they are looking for – pages that are relevant to the search. But how is this relevance determined?
There are four main elements that search engines take into account when determining relevance and thus when placing them:
- Content: Is the content relevant to the user’s search?
- Performance: Does the page load quickly and does it work properly?
- Seriousness: is the content useful? Are other sides referencing it?
- User Experience (UX): What does the page look like and how does it behave? Is it simply set up? Is she safe? Does it have a high bounce rate?
In summary, these are the most important points that you should consider when optimizing. And now we’re going to take a look at the steps to create a good SEO foundation for your website from scratch:
1. Choose a suitable domain name
There are a few things to consider when choosing a domain name:
Company name: Your visitors will find your website to be more serious if you use your company name www.yourcompany.tld as a domain instead of stringing keywords www.keyword-keyword.tld together – because that doesn’t seem very credible, but rather spammy.
Spelling : If your company name is often misspelled, it can be a hurdle for potential visitors. Of course, many will still find it if it is well listed in the search engines. However, if your site is recommended and the advertiser misunderstands the name, you lose an interested party.
Therefore, make sure that your domain name is easy to understand, if necessary, secure domains with the typical typing errors of your name and redirect them to the actual page.
Keywords: Keywords in the domain name are no longer as important as they used to be. In September 2012, Google released the Exact Match Domain (EMD) update to prevent poor quality websites from ranking high due to keywords in the domain name. It doesn’t hurt to register domains with keywords, but don’t overrate it.
2. Choose the right keywords
Before creating the content of your website, first, find out about the keywords that your audience uses when looking for your products or services. Think about it:
What is your website about? Do you sell products or services? Or do you offer useful instructions? What is the main topic of the page?

- Product: What types of instantaneous water heaters can you repair? And what damage can be repaired?
- Price: What does the repair cost? Is there a weekend surcharge or a special price?
- Location: Are you in my area?
- Extras: How quickly can a team come and repair? How can I make an appointment?
3. How to Do Content creation
High-quality content is the basis of your interactions with customers and the key to the top positions in the search engines.
“Content” means everything that you publish on your website, i.e. product descriptions, information, instructions, entertaining things, etc. For example:
- Info pages
- Blog article
- E-books, white papers, other reports
- Brochures, frequently asked questions (FAQ)
- Sales pages

- Images, infographics

Subject areas: Each page should focus on a specific topic. Pay attention to a clear structure and optimize each page only for the corresponding topic. If you mixed the keywords of the individual subject areas, your pages would otherwise be in competition with themselves, and you should definitely avoid that.
Quality: Your content must be unique and targeted. People come to your website to find out.
For example, or to find a solution to a problem. If your content can often be found on other pages in the same or even better quality, the probability is high that prospective customers will find another page.
Updates: Add new content regularly.
For example, you could create a blog that regularly provides new information, or offer e-books and white papers.

The title tag

Heading tags are used to define headings in the content and to divide them into different sections. They show the search engines what is on the page.
In HTML coding, the heading tags from h1 to h6 form a hierarchy.

Set up Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
With the webmaster tools from Google and Bing you can get information about which search terms visitors use to get to your website, whether there are faulty links and whether malicious code has been imported to your site by hackers. Use SEO plugins
If you use WordPress, there are numerous SEO plugins available to help optimize the page. For example, Yoast is free of charge and very extensive.
The robots.txt file contains instructions for search engines on which pages of your website should be ignored during the crawl (allow and disallow). If a URL is marked as “not allowed” (disallow) in your robots.txt files, the URL with all of its content will not be displayed in Google search results.
Make sure that you do not accidentally completely lock out the search engines. Commands like “disallow: /” are often used during the creation of the page, but of course, have to be removed as soon as the page is online.
6. Links Quality
