WILL IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO POSITION YOUR BUSINESS WEB?

Any manager of an SME, once the positioning work has begun, goes through a phase in which he asks “and how long will it take to be positioned with my website ?” . That restlessness is completely normal. Let’s see a summary of what are the normal time ranges that we tell our clients when they ask us that question:

  • Between 6 months and 1 year for keywords of medium competition, and as long as the web page is not new.
  • One year, for completely new web pages and words of average competition.
  • If we talk about high competition keywords, a year is a minimum period to see results, if the web page has some importance for Google. In the event that the website has no entity from Google’s point of view, the times are prolonged.

There are always people who try to use “shortcuts” or ” web positioning tricks ” to rank faster. Well, don’t trust who promises to position you fast. You can see why here .

For the appropriate times to be met, it is essential to have a company that is behind the positioning (SEO) of your SME, and never ever abandon the SEO of your website.

Statistical analysis of positioning times

The first thing they have done from Ahrefs is to see the average age of the websites that are in the top 10 Google positions , to start drawing the first conclusions, and here is the result:

times-position-google-1

It can be seen in the graph that the average age for the websites in the first position is more than 2.5 years, and the average age of the web pages that are in position 10 is 1.8 years. Which means that it is not uncommon to find pages that are less than 1 year old on the first page .

But let’s really see how many pages under 1 year old appear in each of the 10 positions on the first page of Google:

  • Only 1% of the “top1” are less than 1 year old.
  • Only 2% of the «top3» (positions 1,2 and 3) are less than 1 year old

Only 1% of the websites that are in 1st position in Google are less than 1 year old

It is clear that the first page of Google is dominated by old web pages , but let’s finally see the question that interests you the most: How long does it take to position a website in Google?

According to the data extracted from the Ahrefs analysis of 2 million web pages with a year of life, in which they looked at the historical ranking of each of the keywords for which they were ranking, the following can be extracted.

1.- Positioning according to the importance of the page (DR: «Domain Rating»):

It can be seen that only 5.7% of the pages with one year of age are on the first page of Google (Top10), 19.5% between the second page and page 10, and the vast majority (74 , 8%) do not appear in the first 10 pages of Google.

In addition, when classifying the pages by their importance in Google , it is seen that for domains of low importance, which is normally the case of SMEs, only 3% of the web pages with a year old are on the first page of Google.

Only 3% of SMEs with a one-year-old website are on the 1st page of Google
